Pulp Manufacturing Energy Survey -- TAPPI Alkaline Committee, 1997 Pulping Conference Proceedings
An energy survey of a number of kraft mills was undertaken by the Alkaline Committee of the Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry (TAPPI). The purpose of the survey was to accumulate information on the use of energy in various operations of the kraft mill.
The survey was sent to 126 mills out of hich 29 mills responded. Ten of the mills that responded were high yield kraft mills. Seventeen of the mills had batch digesters with one identified as RDH. Seven of the mills had continuous digesters while five mills had both.
The results of the survey are tabulated showing the use of energy in the different operations such as woodyard, pulping, bleaching, screening & refining, recovery, and water treatment.
