Stickies Removal Via Size and Shape Development, 1997 Pulping Conference Proceedings
Stickies are the most problematic contaminant found in deink plants today. Deink market pulp (DIMP) mills are facing increasing pressure from their customers to reduce the stickies content of their pulp. Paper mills with integrated deink plants also are seeking methods to reduce stickies deposition and customer complaints associated with stickies.
Several effective methods exist to control stickies in the paper mill. While stickies control on the paper machine will still play an important role, this paper presents a novel technology to enhance stickies removal in the deink plant. This new technology agglomerates stickies for their removal in fine slotted screens.
Mill evaluations indicate that a significant reduction in stickies occurs using this technology.
