Effects of Water Closure in a Recycle Board Mill - A 22 Year Story, 1998 Pulping Conference Proceedings

Water consumption in the paper industry has been under scrutiny for the past 20-30 years, causing concerns relating to unwanted build-up of contamination throughout mill process systems. A look is offered at the impact of varying degrees of mill closure on a Southern recycle board mill over a 22 year period. In essence, the balance of degrees of mill closure with productivity and product quality are reviewed along with the successful working relationship the mill had with it’s primary suppliers during the entire span of events.
