My TAPPI Story: McKenna Goulette
A new measurement technique has been developed to measure the concentration of macro stickies in pulp. In this method, 100 g of pulp is processed through a 6 cut (or 4 cut) slotted screen and rejects are collected on filter paper. Drying under prescribed conditions and re-wetting the filter paper reveal white specks on a translucent filter paper. A modified scanning technique allows the measurement of white specks on translucent filter paper. Thus, no dyes or special coated paper or powder are needed to enhance the contrast between stickies and the background. The method appears to be reproducible and quite specific to stickies.
