Chemically-Structured Minerals for a New Generation of Stickies Control, 1998 Pulping Conference Proceedings

Today’s papermaker is faced with challenges resulting from increased usage of secondary fiber and related problems associated with stickies and other contaminants. Historically stickies control programs have been employed to minimize problems associated with deposition on wires, felts and other papermaking equipment as well as defects in the final sheet. A new program utilizing a chemically structured mineral has been developed and it has demonstrated effective stickies control with corresponding improved physical properties in the final sheet.
