The first Isothermal cooking ITC system in North America was installed at the Weyerhaeuser Flint River mill and started up in mid 1996. The mill had an existing advanced control provided by Honeywell-Measurex on the dual vessel steam/liquor phase cooking digester. With the advent of the Isothermal cooking technology, Weyerhaeuser needed an advanced control solution for their digester which reflected their current cooking configuration. After reviewing options available on the market, the mill selected Honeywell-Measurex for this task. The advanced control package, implemented on a Honeywell-Measurex TotalPlant Solution (TPS ) system, uses the latest control technology available for this application.
