Effects of Deinking Surfactants on Subsequent Processing Chemistry and Paper Machine Runnability, 2001 Pulping Conference Proceedings

J. Luo, B. Horacek--This paper illustrates the benefits of newly developed deinking products that are designed to not only improve the deinking efficiency of a process, but also to reduce interference with other chemicals in subsequent processing stages and improve paper machine runnability. It focuses on two different deinking process applications, both washing and combination flotation/washing. The new flotation aid has demonstrated the ability to improve ink removal efficiency, reduce fiber loss, and reduce paper machine deposition potential. The novel wash deinking aid has been particularly effective in reducing paper machine deposition potential as well as in controlling foam.
