Mini-Mill is a Misnomer: The Design of Small Recycled Linerboard/Corrugating Medium Mills, 1993 Recycling Symposium Proceedings
R. O. Ward, J. S. Brock
The small greenfield recycled linerboard mill is a competitive alternate to major greenfield or expansion projects normally associated with linerboard mill projects. Often referred to as mini-mills, with the incorrect connotation that compromises have been made in product or equipment quality, these are actually high quality, cost effective projects using current process and equipment technology. While minimizing capital cost is a significant factor in these often entrepreneurial projects, the cost effectiveness is achieved by a focused, restricted project scope and an innovative design approach. Located close to both the raw material and potential markets, thse projects are often an economic alternate that satisfies customer needs and assists in reducing our well-known landfill problem.
