Current Research Activities on Waste Paper Recycling at the IFP, 1994 Recycling Symposium Proceedings
Lothar Gottsching, Hans-Joachim Putz
The IfP - the foremost educational and independent research institu-tion in paper science in Germany - gives priority to R & D related to environmental protection issues, including waste paper recycling. Research on waste paper recycling deals with physical and chemical characterization of the different waste paper grades and all relevant processes for the treatment of recycled fibers, ncluding deinking and bleaching. The aim is the improvement of the characteristics of paper grades in terms of runnability and printability for recycled paper, newsprint, SC and LWC papers, with different portions of recycled fibers. Furthermore, we are involved in the closure of white water systems and the treatment of effluents as well as of residues of paper mills processing recycled fibers.
