Pulp cleaners are difficult to optimize because of a large number of independent variables effecting the cleaner performance and the difficulty in seeing small changes in cleaner efficiency. The use of dynamic zone modeling will help designers and operators to optimize the various parameters and select the best cleaner geometries for a specific task. Theoretical optimization of the Separation and Isolation Zones and the impact of furnish and contaminant factors are being explored to expand our understanding and control of hydrocyclones in recycling.
