New Rewetting Agents for Corrugating Medium Board, 1994 Recycling Symposium Proceedings

M. J. Hou, N. Seeivasan, M. Ellis

Conversion of corrugating medium into corrugated box involves the penetration and spreading of the glue or any adhesives onto the medium so that the top, middle or bottom liners can be attached to each other. Due to the increasing speeds of the new converting machines in the boxboard and other converting plants, the time between the point of application of the glue and the point of attachment to the other paper layer is decreasing. To ensure proper adhesion of the liner onto the corrugating medium, several novel rewetting agents were explored to increase the penetration and spreading of glue on corrugating medium.
