Issues Concerning the Use of Recycled Fiber in Coated Grades Roundtable
Paper Not For Sale! - No additional documentation!
Issues regarding the use of secondary fiber in lightweight coated (LWC) grades will be discussed by the panel, including the use of both deinked ONP/OMG (mechanical fiber), and deinked ledger/MOW (woodfree fiber) for use in coated grades. Operating experience will be reviewed in terms of impact on sheet quality, runnability on the paper machine and coater, and potential problems from stickies and debris causing holes, streaks or other sheet defects. Additional input will be given from the viewpoint of operating a deink systems to produce pulp from ONP/OMG for use in LWC grades. It is also planned to have input from the printing/publishing industry regarding market demands for magazine paper with secondary fiber content, as well as operating advantages or disadvantages using LWC papers with secondary fiber content.
