My TAPPI Story: McKenna Goulette
Trials on laboratory and pilot plant scales have confirmed that waxed OCC can be recycled and a spot-free pulp produced by using hot dispersion. Recycling with dewaxing of white waxed grades has been investigated by using deinking technologies with adaptation of pulping conditions. Trials have been successfully performed on our industrial scale. Pilot plant trials have shown that flotation can also be used to remove wax when recycling curtain-coated boards, the drawback is important losses. Additional work is required regarding recycling with dewaxing of saturated containers.
