Use of New Fiber Grades to Improve Quality and Costs, 1997 Recycling Symposium Proceedings
Stone Consolidated’s paper mill in Stielacoom, WA uses some innovative new sources of fiber for it’s furnish for the recycled mill. The purchasing of the fiber is based on a new concept of “Attribute Fiber Buying”-understanding the needs of the Paper Machines and newsprint customers and procuring the fiber to satisfy those needs in the most cost effective manner.
A team oriented recycle plant has used innovative solutions to processing these new fiber sources. Challenging paradigms along the way. A new innovative approach for making fiber selection choices based on attributes of the fiber and requirements of the final customers. Aligning operations and procurement to maximize quality and minimize costs.
