Recycled Fiber Operations at Cartiera Lucchese, 1997 Recycling Symposium Proceedings
Cartiera Lucchese is a recycled fiber tissue operation located in the city of Diecimo in the Tuscany region of Italy. The mill uses high-ash magazine paper to produce tissue. The use of recovered coated magazine paper is growing worldwide and this mill has pioneered the pulping, deinking, and cleaning of this underutilized source of recovered paper. At the mill, the machine complex was supplied by Beloit - starting with a deinking line and ending with a combining line capable of winding 4-ply tissue. Specific challenges in the removal of spine glues, and other contaminants are covered.
This paper is being presented in video format, and although the material has been presented in written format, the coverage by film provides a different format for examining the processes involved in dealing with high-ash recovered paper.
