Proposed Method for the Measurement of Deformation or "Latency" Imparted to Secondary Pulp Fibers by the Dispersion Process, 1997 Recycling Symposium Proceedings
A method was developed in order to measure the amount of fiber deformation or latency imparted to secondary fibers through thermal and mechanical energy in dispersion systems.
The proposed method is the result of experimentation focusing on the proper conditions under which latency is released in the laboratory. Pulp for the experiments was taken from pilot plant trials using different secondary fiber furnishes.
Results of the experimentation clearly show the relationship between consistency, temperature, time and amount of mechanical energy used to the extent of latency released....
