Enzymatic Deinking of Mow: Process Condition Optimization, 1997 Recycling Symposium Proceedings
Enzymatic deinking has recently been a subject of interest to the paper industry. Unfortunately, there is limited data available to guide mills interested in practicing this technology. The aim of this paper is to provide an understanding of how enzymatic deinking can be successfully applied to a mill affordable mixed office waste (MOW) furnish under neutral pH conditions.
The deinking parameters important to achieve successful results include: process type, wastepaper, point of chemical addition and specific pulping conditions. Some important aspects of the pulping stage are chemical type, chemical dose, consistency, pH, temperature, and residence time.
The results shown describe the preferred process conditions required to achieve exceptional deinking performance over a traditional alkaline approach.
