My TAPPI Story: McKenna Goulette
Currently, there is no standardized stickies test method documented in the TAPPI Standard Test Methods to quantify stickies in recycled pulp. Various activities within TAPPI, IS0 committees and the International Research Association for Deinking Technoloy (INGEDE) in Europe have been organized to research existing test methods and develop a standardized method to measure Macro and Micro stickies. This paper presents an improved test method for measuring Macro stickies: The‘Pickup” method. The paper emphasizes statistical, size classification testing hardware and practical wet-lab operation issues. The application of the new test method is also demonstrated,plotting stickies test results throughout a typical recycle process deinking ONP/OMG.
