The ”sustainable development” of RCF business postulates that the costs of raw material and technology should be in reasonable level and the pulp yield and quality should be improved.
Present RCF-processes are in many cases very complicated, too complicated. The main reason for this is the inefficiency of the technology used. In ”state of the art” systems the unsatisfactory performance of the process is costly improved by adding more and more stock preparation equipment.
Valmet has put a significant effort on RCF-technology research, both OCC and DIP. The aim of this research has been to simplify the processes, decrease energy consumption, improve the efficiency of RCF-line subprocesses, improve pulp yield and quality. The results of this research have been put into practice in Valmet Pulping Technology Center, Anjalankoski, Finland, where various compositions of RCF-processes can be tested and compared....
...(in) this paper the possibilities and limits of simplifying the RCF processes are discussed and (pilot and mill) trial results of simplified process technology are presented.
