Lime Kiln Emission Control, 1990 TAPPI Conference Proceedings
The formation of TRS, dust, SO, and NO, as well as their theoretical formation mechanism are discussed. The measured emission levels and the ways to influence their formation are presented based on industrial experiences. The ability of flue gas cleaning systems to handle these compounds is discussed. As a conclusion, a two-stage flue gas system consisting of an electrostatic precipitator and alkaline wet scrubbing stage seems to be necessary in the future at least when malodor-ous gases are combusted in a lime kiln.
