Gas Fired Paper Dryer, 1990 TAPPI Conference Proceedings
The drying capacity of a steam heated dryer is limited by its internal temperature. Flakt Ross Inc. of Montreal Canada, has recently developed a prototype lab unit which uses impingement nozzle technology to replace steam as a paper dryer heat source. The unit is gas fired and was designed based on paper mill required criteria. The unit was tested at the Flakt Ross Laboratories and proved to be efficient and mechanically sound. The gas fired paper dryer provides high heat fluxes due to high internal temperatures. A field installation will provide more data in the future.
