Fatigue Properties of Splice Welded Centrifugal Castings, 1990 TAPPI Conference Proceedings

The increased use of splice welded centrifugal castings for paper mill winders, felt rolls and reels, initiated an investigation to determine weld area properties. Rotating bending fatigue testing confirmed that the endurance limits of the weld and the HAZ exceeded that of the parent metal while providing good ductility and high impact resistance.
