Highly Effective Oil-Free and Water-Extended Brown Stock Washer Defoamer, 1990 TAPPI Conference Proceedings
DISCOTECH 5945, a highly effective brown stock washer defoamer, has been developed and is receiving increasing customer acceptance. The product contains no dioxin-contributing mineral oil or deposit-producing EBS. It contains 2-5 ppb dibenzofuran and undetectable dibenzodioxin which are considerably lower levels than those available to date. It therefore helps alleviate the dioxin concerns being experienced by paper mills which produce bleached stock. At this writing, over twelve mills have qualified DISCOTECH 5945 as equal to or better than their current oil-containing defoamer, and several mills are using or anticipating using the product on an on-going basis with cost-effective results.
