Modernizing for Cost, Quality and Compliance, 1992 TAPPI Conference Proceedings
Global competition and consumer pressure brought to bear by a pro-active "green" movement is forcing the Pulp and Paper industry to adopt new strategies and standards. Quality of products and environmental compliance of our operations will be prerequisites for survival as we move into the next century.
This paper addresses the need for thorough planning and study in order to remain competitive and to achieve compliance. Process technology and how it will impact capital cost, operating cost and quality will be examined. Both modernization of existing pulping operations and the design of greenfield facilities will be reviewed.
