High Consistency Forming: A New Concept, 2000 Engineering Conference Proceedings

Tom Cichoracki, Johan Gullichsen, Hannu Paulapuro--A new concept in web forming is described. Webs are formed from a 5 - 12% consistency fiber suspension on a 300mm wide experimental former. The former utilizes a rotor to impart shear to the suspension, which disrupts flocs and spreads the suspension evenly across the machine. Initial results indicate that webs can be formed in this consistency range.
