Optimized Shoe Press Technology with New Roll Design, 2000 Engineering Conference Proceedings

Malin Kilian, Anders Leandersson--The SymBeltä shoe press consists of a shoe press roll and a counter roll which can either be a solid roll or, for higher loads and wider machines, a crown controlled roll. The shoe roll is manufactured either with a fixed tilt or an adjustable tilt. The version with fixed tilt has one row of hydraulic cylinders, while the version with adjustable tilt has two rows of hydraulic cylinders. Each version provides the same type of pressure curve but the adjustable tilt provides an extra degree of freedom as the shape of the pressure curve can be changed during operation. It is therefore ideal for multi-grade machines.
