Small Modularized Biomass Fired Boiler System for a Recycle Pulp and Paper Mill, 2000 Engineering Conference Proceedings

Greg Imig, Blake McBurney--In January 2000, Energia Verde began operation of a new biomass fired thermal plant, which was designed to produce the process steam requirements to a recycle pulp and paper mill. The combination fuel fired boiler is a small modularized unit, which is designed to fire wood waste, sludge and No. 6 oil. In keeping with the theme of the 2000 TAPPI Engineering Conference “Doing More with Less”, this paper reviews the boiler system design, project execution and operating performance history of the new biomass fired boiler.
