Handling Wastepaper from the Source to the Process, 1991 Engineering Conference Proceedings
This paper describes handling systems and strategies used to procure, handle and process wastepaper into recycled fiber. Many of today’s handling systems are small; some handle less than 100 tons of wastepaper per day. In the future, however, new handling systems will supply up to 1200-1800 tons of wastepaper per day to recycling plants. At these processing rates, owners and design engineers must give more attention to wastepaper handling system design to optimize handling and minimize operating and capital costs. The information presented here is intended to assist in the development of handling system designs that will meet the needs of new recycled fiber plants. In addition, five examples of wastepaper handling systems for deinking mills are illustrated and discussed.
