Developing a Quality Process for a Multi-Location Company, 1992 Engineering Conference Proceedings
Many companies find, when developing a quality process, that this challenging undertaking becomes even more complex when the company operates in multiple locations. This paper outlines the steps necessary to develop a quality process, particularly emphasizing the additional complexities that multi-location companies face.
The primary challenge is to develop a process that will be accepted by the people who will be using it. We all understand that a technically excellent manual has little value if it merely collects dust on a shelf. The critical components of a successful quality process include employee involvement, technical completeness, and the ability to continually improve the process.
Developing a quality process is neither fast nor easy, but both internal and external audits help to keep the process moving. Once initiated, however, a quality process clearly becomes essential to running a successful business.
