New Former for SC Grades - Plus, 1992 Engineering Conference Proceedings

A new twin wire former has been developed to meet the critical demands of the SC grade. These demands include high ash content, high production speed, minimum difference in top and bottom surfaces, excellent formation and uniformity and good retention. In pilot machine trials this new former has produced SC paper with good formation at speeds of 1500 mpm with more than 30% filler and less than 1% difference in top to bottom ash content. The application of this former has also expanded into other grades such as fine paper and newsprint A comparison between this new former to other existing formers is made for these applications.
