Total Planned Maintenance Overview, 1992 Engineering Conference Proceedings
This presentation addresses the programmatic and technical concerns in development of a Total Planned Maintenance (TPM) Program. To effect this change to TPM requires an understanding of the elements and interactions that comprise the maintenance function and the implementation of a Planned Maintenance Program that considers each element. The approach discussed is focused on the importance of establishing goals and baselines for equipment reliability and plant availability and the selection of appropriate maintenance strategies to achieve the goals. The TPM approach identities maintenance through reliabilty centered techniques designed to consider the capability of equipment.
Topics to be discussed include: the five essential elements of the Total Planned Maintenance Program; determining life cycle maintenance requirements for systems/equipment through reliability centered techniques; determining total maintenance resources through Engineered Logistic Support.
