Felt Design Factor - A Tool for Optimizing Sheet Dryness, 1992 Engineering Conference Proceedings

With this study we defined a relationship which exists between the composition of a press felt and the outgoing sheet dryness. We saw that the parameters that are given as primary parameters (Permeability Index (CFM), Nip capacity, Hydraulic Pressure...) seem to individually have no influence on the paper dryness. To the contrary some parameters that we can qualify as secondary parameters (Permeability um2), Specific Area and layer position) are important to know. A factor which combines these parameters has been defined and calculated; we named it the design factor (Df).
