Information Systems for Equipment Reliability, 1994 Engineering Conference Proceedings

The reliability, and subsequent safety, of process equipment is categorized by performance over time. The assessment of reliability requires accurate information gathering and review. Process conditions, materials performance (especially within aggressive environments), maintenance, and inspection data – must be compiled and analyzed.
Assessment of equipment deterioration is complex. The analysis requires gathering of extensive static and dynamic data from multiple sources. Accurate inspection information is very important to the reliability assessment. The validity, pertinence, and extent of this data will ultimately affect the results. Computerized information systems are now being utilized to acquire inspection data, perform algorithmic analysis, and provide scheduling for subsequent inspections, retrofits, or replacements.
