Rejects System Modifications - A Technical and Economic Necessity, 1996 Engineering Conference Proceedings
The recycling plants (both deinking and non-deinking) are facing increasing pressure to modernize due to the changing technology and developments on equipment design. The minimills that will be installed today for production of market pulp, linerboard or mediumgrades will be significantly different in design than the one operating for the past 20 years. With the depleting landfill volume and escalating waste disposal costs, mills are forced to restructure their rejects system to minimize fiber losses and also to efficiently remove the contaminants during the early stages of the removal process. Contaminant removal in the early stages is desired both in deinking and nondeinking facilities, due to the possibility of reducing the number of cleaning stages necessary.
