Modern scheduling methodology started being developed during World War I. The computational requirements of todays scheduling techniques require high speed computers. There is a large assortment of scheduling software available for use in managing mill engineering projects. A survey of mill engineers shows that 71% of mill engineers use some sort of computer scheduling system for plating and control of projects, maintenance and shutdowns.
