Project Accounting for Mill Engineering, 1996 Engineering Conference Proceedings

Charles T. Floyd

Willamette Industries, Inc.

Progressive pulp and paper manufacturers ‘ pulled-out into the passing lane’ of the information highway in the early 1990’s. The need for real-time maintenance information translated into a bonanza for the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) market. With CMMS becoming a necessity for maintenance information networking, exciting new challenges are being created for the mill engineer. The ability to access endless amounts of historical data, along with the opportunity to communicate with mill operations and maintenance electronically is truly taking mill engineering ‘to the next level!’ This paper will review these opportunities and further expand on mill engineering accounting horizons within the CMMS structure.
