Composite tubes consisting of an outer layer of Sanicro 38 (Alloy 825 mod) and an inner compo-nent of 4L7 (SA210-Al) have been tested both in laboratory tests as well as in black liquor recovery boiler floors.
Laboratory thermal fatigue test has shown that the combination Alloy 825 mod/SA210-Al shows superior results compared to some other composite combinations, including the commonly used 304L/SA210-Al The improved thermal fatigue property is explained by the fact that Alloy 825 mod has a thermal expansion coefficient much closer to SA210-Al than 304L. Also the stress corrosion cracking properties for Alloy 825 mod is better than that of 304L. So far our experience (6 years) in black liquor recovery boiler floors have confirmed that Alloy 825 mod/SA210-Al is less sensitive for cracking.
