Yankee Dryer Development Through Stress Analysis, 1997 Engineering Conference Proceedings
The Yankee dryer is the cornerstone of the crepe tissue process. In less than a single turn of this large cast iron pressure vessel, the tissue web is pressed, dried and creped. Today, the surface speeds for tissue making may be over 2000 meters per minute. Stress analysis has guided the development of the dryer since its infancy in the mid 1800’s and is indispensable for understanding and resolving operating problems and, most importantly, for providing a methodology for running this critical piece of equipment safely.
