Paper Mill Maintenance, 1997 Engineering Conference Proceedings
Modern paper mills require well controlled maintenance schedules with strong support from detection instrumentation and data records. Two types of maintenance organizations are used in Brazil depending on the size of the mill. The large integrated mills use a central maintenance shop with area maintenance cells. Small nonintegrated mills use a simplified structure with greater use of outside maintenance contractors. The description of maintenance procedures, organization, and figures are based on the author’s experience and present status in the most significant paper mill companies in Brazil.
