Engineers use the laws of mechanics to design equipment. Failure to do this will result in equipment breakdown. However, failure to use the laws of Biomechanics will result in injury to the workers who operate or use the equipment. This paper presents the eight basic rules of Biomechanics, which if applied to the design of equipment, the workplace, and the training of the workers will minimize injuries and repetitive trauma which injures the back joints, muscles, and skin, This reduction of workplace pains and strains will increase productivity, reduce worker’s compensation claims, and improve the worker’s attitude towards their jobs. These eight simple basic rules should be applied to equipment design, equipment purchases, and all human activities, including your workers and your family.
