My TAPPI Story: Rory Wolf
TAPPISAFE
- A. Springer, D. Walendzak -- The intent of this research is to develop tools that will help a mill move towards sustainable practices. The research will enable answering of the question in an overall sense whether a plant is more environmentally friendly this year as opposed to last year. To develop these tools an appreciation for the sustainable practices in the day to day operations and management of a paper mill manufacturing recycled linerboard and deinked newsprint. Research was conducted to identify the most exemplary environmentally performing mills in each manufacturing category. Visits were conducted to those mills that were identified for their environmental performance. The practices from these exemplary mills were evaluated and supplemented through literature research to develop an understanding of what constitutes sustainable practices in all aspects of mill operations.
