Membrane Desalination of Pulp Bleach Wastewater, 2000 Environmental Conference Proceedings
- F. J. Matfield, V. J. Bohmer -- Reverse Osmosis was trialed as a means to desalinate bleach wastewaters from an ODED pulp bleaching process. Extensive pilot plant trials were conducted investigating pretreatment processes to overcome rather severe fouling problems.
Membrane fouling can be overcome through chemical physical pretreatment but proved to be costly. Biological pretreatment followed by ultrafiltration was found to be very effective.
