Water Quality Standards for Nutrients - Process, Status, and Implementation, 2000 Environmental Conference Proceedings

- R. P. Fisher -- USEPA is in the process of developing and implementing its National Strategy for the Development of Regional Nutrient Criteria. The Strategy includes these components: (1) the development and assessment of data on indicator ranges and nutrient concentration ranges; (2) a geographic region approach to developing criteria; (3) the development of waterbody-type criteria guidance documents incorporating (1) and (2); (4) the requirement for implementation of these or other criteria by the States and Tribes; and (5) the establishment of national and regional nutrient teams to coordinate these actions.
