Factors Influencing the Feasibility of Wood Products Landfill Waste Recovery for Beneficial Re-Use, 2000 Environmental Conference Proceedings
- G. Bryden -- Permitting, operating, and closing private solid waste landfills for the disposal of wood products waste is becoming increasingly cost-prohibitive as regulatory requirements continue to mount. This paper examines the economic, regulatory, and technical factors that must be considered when evaluating the option of mining and recovering wood waste products from solid waste landfills. Examples from recent landfill closures in Oregon are used to illustrate how the factors above led to different approaches to landfill closure.
