Pilot Plant Study for Cluster Rule Compliance Using Aerobic Biological Destruction of HAPS, 2000 Environmental Conference Proceedings

Mendenhall -- Longview Fibre Company determined the cost-effective means of compliance with Cluster Rule Regulations for the destruction of Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPS) at the Longview, Washington facility would be to utilize existing waste treatment plant capacity. Unknown was the degree of destruction possible if an existing UNOX* train was to be converted for use as a dedicated control device under terms of the rule. Pilot plant design criteria, operating conditions, experience and results are presented. Scale-up factors and final design for the full-size unit are included.
