Extending the Service Life of Heat Transfer Media in RTOs, 2001 Environmental Conference Proceedings

John S. Reid, Charles C. Vaught--Maximizing the life of the ceramic heat exchange media is extremely important to any manufacturing plant using regenerative thermal oxidation devices (RTOs) for the removal of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). This paper addresses some of the key considerations in selecting the right media for loose-ceramic-filled RTOs and ways media selection can effect the economic operation of the units. The paper also discusses recent product developments intended to lower daily RTO operating costs while avoiding costly downtime.
