Magnesium Hydroxide for pH Adjustment in Paper Mill Waste Treatment, 1992 Environmental Conference Proceedings

The use of Magnesium Hydroxide verses Sodium Hydroxide as a pH adjustment chemical was evaluated in a paper mill waste water treatment plant. The major advantages were, safety in handling, increased buffering capacity, increased clarity of the effluent and improved dewaterability of the sludge. All of these advantages were achieved at no additional operating cost.
