Research Needs in the Pulp and Paper Industry Environmental Concerns, 1993 Environmental Conference Proceedings
Research needs to answer environmental concerns were identified in a TAPPI sponsored workshop. While it included reducing emissions utilizing air, wastewater and solid waste control equipment, forestry practices and production process areas were included. Product recycling, public perception and regulation are important consideration for the future.
The United States pulp and paper industry does not have a central research focus as some countries do. Universities, research organizations, trade organizations, graduate students, and the Environmental Division may want to consider how to approach solving the environmental concerns of the industry through research.
