Waste Paper Utilization in Japan and Its Effect on the Environment, 1994 Environmental Conference Proceedings

Many major Japanese pulp and paper manufacturing companies recently issued their voluntary plan regarding what they can do to improve the global environment. Wastepaper utilization is an important item in the plan.

This paper will introduce the Japanese municipal solid waste problem, waste paper utilization and a general ONP deinking process. Also, the effect of wastepaper utilization on the environment from the view point of energy consumption, carbon dioxide load and effluent loads will be discussed.
