Controlling SO2 Emissions From Combustion Sources, 1994 Environmental Conference Proceedings
T.L.C. de Souza
A review is presented of available SO2 control technologies that covers most processes used today in reducing SO2 emissions from pulp and paper mill sources, such as kraft chemical recovery furnaces, lime kilns, sulphite mills and power boilers as well as other industry sources. The choice of an SO2-curtailing process for a particular source depends upon a number of factors, such as the location, availability of chemicals and other supplies, availability of space to accommodate erection of retrofit equipment, energy demands, disposal of byproducts of the process, etc. This review is presented as an aid to choosing the most appropriate technology for any combination of these factors.
